Group Ride from Wolf Bay by mhare2001 at Garmin Connect - Details

Group Ride from Wolf Bay by mhare2001 at Garmin Connect - Details
We had a great group of guys show up for an early morning ride from the location of the old Wolf Bay Lodge. Weather was warm but not scorching yet! We covered 35 miles stopping at Barber Marina for a rest-stop, nice new marina. The group went back by Wolf Bay and dropped off half the group who had early commitments and three of us continued on for 9 additional miles. Now on to my ongoing evaluation of new cycling stuff, this was my third ride with the Castelli Ergo Bib shorts, wow, two hours in the saddle and my backside still feels great, I am sold on these!

Training Ride by mhare2001 at Garmin Connect - Details

Training Ride by mhare2001 at Garmin Connect - Details Today I took an afternoon ride to try out my new Castelli Ergo Tre Bibshort with the KISS3 pad. First impressions were the fit was a little tight, but when I got on the bike everything fell into place. Pulling out of the drive the KISS3 Pad seemed a little harder than the Bontrigger Bibs I have been wearing but I thought what the heck, lets see what they fell like after an hour in the saddle. I must say, the added hardness or support, I guess depends on who you talk to was a welcome surprise! Honestly, my backside really had no complaints and felt like I could have ridden for hours more, of course the lightning and thunder fast approaching deterred that from happening, dang lost another good day of riding! Also, I tried a new pair of Castelli Lowboy socks, my feet were cool and dry after the hour long ride. I will post a follow up review after the next ride, but as expected quality and comfort were up to the usual Castelli standard.

Kids Test New Shorts

I just received two pair of child's padded bike shorts from aero|tech|designs|cyclewear quality seems nice for $15.00 a pair and both kids said it really made a difference in the level of comfort they experienced on a 1:10 11.44 mile ride. Believe me, I had heard in the past, all about my bottom hurts, can we stop, I want to go home; it was a pleasant change and both really said they enjoyed the ride! First impressions, good buy and nice quality. I will update as time goes on about durability.

Training Ride to Hwy 24

Took a late afternoon ride before leaving town for the rest of the week. I rode a brutal 32.45 miles with about half of it into a steady 10 mph breeze. I read somewhere that you can factor about a 3 mph reduction in speed for every 5 mph of wind and boy do I believe it, my legs were crushed on the way back home. I took about 1:51 to ride the route and averaged 17.5 but topped out at 36.9! I did get my heart rate up to 157 average and keep the cadence at 91.

Training Ride

Just back from an early training ride around the back roads of Baldwin County. Nice day for a ride, just a little windy showing 8 MPH from the SE and 86 degrees. I rode 22.5 miles in 1:16 for an average speed of 17.7 MPH. I had no supplements with me this trip, just a nice training ride to get the blood pumping. I am trying out CycleOps PowerAgent Software to see how it works, but I do not have a powertap so no wattage data is being collected, just the normal stuff from the Garmin 705.

See you on the Road!

Training Ride by mhare2001 at Garmin Connect - Details

High temperature and high winds were on the menu today, I had to fight a 8mph gusting to 18mph headwind all the way back from Weeks Bay! Tough! My back seemed to be recovering, I was just a little stiff at the end of the ride
